Lots of sea fun in Kalpitiya, lots of culture and history on the way to the idyllic beaches of the east coast. Meet the locals in Habarana and do a cook up, some cycling through villages. Then a safari to see wild elephants, conquer a monolith rock fortress, chill in a pool in the evenings, visit some temples, then adrenalin junkies, prepare yourselves for some high octane action in fast flowing river sports activities.

To overcome your long flight, you will rest at a comfortable hotel in Negombo.
Overnight stay in Negombo.
After breakfast leave Negombo for Kalpitiya (130kms/4hrs).
When in Kalpitiya, reach for the beach, sun and fun, engage in various water activities, kite surfing, skiing, snorkeling, bird watching, boat rides. An ideal start for family fun time and activities with lots of freshly caught seafood. Alternatively hook into a stylish eco camp site that offers open sky BBQ’s, no electricity, lit by oil lamps, blissful walks on the beach, and at sunset undertake an exciting 4×4 sand dune drive. Late evening watch turtles come ashore to lay eggs.
Overnight stay in Kalpitiya.
Early morning, rise and shine, time to go dolphin and whale watching (seasonal), breakfast pack provided or a yacht cruise for the day.
Relax in the afternoon by the beach and enjoy a chilled drink or do some reef snorkeling, diving.

Depart Kalpitiya for Anuradhapura (UNESCO World Heritage site) (120Kms 2.00 Hrs.).
Visit ancient Buddhist archeological sites in the 1st capital of Sri Lanka, en route to the east coast city of Trincomalee (100kms/2 hrs), drop into Mihintale rock temple.
Dip into a hot natural spring in Trincomalee, check into your hotel and chill by the pool in the afternoon and watch a gorgeous sunset.

After breakfast, enjoy a boat excursion to Pigeon Island, take a picnic along with you and play in the rock pools, or go on a cruise to watch whales & dolphin (seasonal).
Back to your hotel in Trincomalee for an overnight stay.
Day to explore Trincomalee, visit Trincomalee Dutch fort and the Naval museum, Thirukoneswarn Hindu temple, the spectacular lovers leap or a spot of golf. In the afternoon enjoy the magnificent beaches of Trincomalee, don’t miss Nilaveli.

After breakfast leave at your leisure to Habarana, (1.30hrs/84km), where you will be spending a thrilling stay for the next 3 nights under the stars in a safari camp site with camp fires and hearty meals, lit torches and the sounds of the wild, alternatively you can choose to stay in an eco type accommodation.
Overnight in Habarana.
After breakfast, mingle with local villagers, participate in a authentic Sri Lankan cooking class and enjoy the fruits of your labor by eating what you have helped to cook over lunch. You may be more inclined to do some trekking, bird watching, or a family cycle ride in a village, the choice is yours.
Afternoon safari to one of the National parks close to Habarana.

After a hearty breakfast and in the cool of the morning, embark on conquering Sigiriya Rock Fortress or Pidurangala Rock Temple. On completion return to your camp/eco lodge for a fun filled afternoon such as an elephant ride, boating, a trek into the wild, etc.

Post breakfast leave for Kandy (90kms/3hrs). En route visit the splendid Dambulla cave temples.
Check in to your hotel, have lunch and rest. Early evening indulge in the Kandy city tour, visit the sacred Dalada Maligawa/Temple of the tooth (UNESCO World Heritage site). Experience the Puja at 6pm with its colorful pageantry, drums and trumpets. It’s an interesting event for the whole family.
Back to hotel for stay overnight.
Breakfast and then to Pinnawala elephant orphanage (40kms/1hr) where you can observe elephants, help feed milk and fruit to baby Elephant, watch elephants being bathed in a nearby river, spend some time with these gentle giants.
Proceed to Kitulgala (100kms/2hrs) for your next stop over. On reaching Kitulgala and subject to time visit Belilena prehistoric cave.
Overnight stay in a camp/eco lodge accommodation.
A full day to engage adrenalin junkies in water activities (white water rafting, canoeing, jet ski), adventure activities (abseiling, confidence jump, zip lining) or trekking, bird watching, the choice is yours.
Overnight stay in Kitulgala.
Leave Kitulgala at your leisure, reach Negombo by the sea (2.3hrs/89km), relax by the beach or take a boat tour on the Hamilton canal to the lagoon or the Maha Oya river, observe birds, monitor lizards, owls.
Watch a beautiful sunset over the west coast.

Full day to relax by the pool, or beach? catch some last minute rays or enjoy an ayurveda massage.

Religious Sites – Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Dambulla, Dalada Maligawa – Wear conservative attire and cover shoulders and legs. Remove shoes & slippers. Socks can be worn.
Site Guides – Test their language skills and knowledge. Fix the price before you proceed. Cost should be circa USD 10.00 or 15.00.
Stairs – Un-even rock carved paths, steps and walkways in some climbs may be challenging and slippery. Be particularly careful in wet conditions.
Site Entry Tickets – Buy entry tickets to various sites directly from the official ticket kiosk/counter that are generally placed at the entrance.
Pictures – Request permission before taking photos at religious or other sensitive areas.
Potable Water – Always carry a bottle of water.
Safaris – Bring your own mosquito and leach repellent. Always follow the tracker or the guides’ instructions. Visits are only undertaken with a tracker.
