This adventure takes you to the ancient capital and historical sites of Sri Lanka, including the impressive Sigiriya rock citadel, the unique Dambulla cave temple and a number of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Immerse yourself into the wilderness with an exciting safari in a hidden away jungle. Day 1Colombo Airport – Arrival - Negombo

Our representative will be eagerly awaiting you on your arrival into Colombo International airport.

Meet at arrivals hall.

To overcome your long flight, you will rest at a comfortable hotel in Negombo. Subject to your check in time, enjoy an Ayurveda massage to help sooth away any jetlag.

Day 2Negombo – Anuradhapura

After breakfast leave to the sacred city of Anuradhapura ( approximately 3.30 hours), it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The first capital city of Sri Lanka (4th century BC). Find the oldest recorded Bodhi Tree “Tree of Enlightenment” in the world (3rd Century BC).

Return to your hotel take a rest and enjoy a massage.

Overnight stay in Anuradhapura.

Day 3Anuradhapura - Mihintale - Ritigala - Sigiriya

After breakfast a short drive to Mihintale Rock Temple. This site is a major pilgrimage destination for Buddhists with spectacular monuments such as Dagobas surrounded by monolithic columns. The views from the top are breathtaking.

After the visit you can proceed to Ritigala Monastery and Archaeological site and stop by the Aukana Buddha (the largest standing Buddha statue carved out of a rock.)

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at the hotel, by the pool.

Overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 4Sigiriya - Dambulla - Sigiriya

After an early morning breakfast head to Sigiriya Rock Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the citadel that King Kasyapa built on the top of a formidable block of granite. Discover the ruins of this ancient civilisation who once lived there and admire from atop the beautiful scenic views of the gardens and surrounding jungle.

Alternatively, at a close distance the Pidurangala Rock Temple is an interesting, less visited venue with wonderful views of Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Sunsets from its summit are spectacular.

In the afternoon visit the incredible Dambulla Cave Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Admire the statues, mural paintings and the views. When climbing the steps carved in the rock you will be greeted by few monkeys.

Back to the hotel to enjoy a spa treatment.

Overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 5Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa

In the morning you can improve your culinary skills by participating in a cooking class. You will be delighted to taste your hard work for lunch.

In the afternoon drive to Polonnaruwa.

Day 6Polonnaruwa - Gal Oya

After breakfast, discover the Polonnaruwa archeological site, the 3 statues of Lord Buddha, the museum, the lake, the Parakrama Samudraya and other historical wonders.

Proceed on a 3.3 hour drive to Gal Oya National Park.

On the way, you might decide to stop at Mahiyanganaya temple for a brief visit.

When reaching Gal Oya, rest, enjoy the peace and the tranquility of the wilderness.

Overnight stay in an eco type accommodation or a lodge in Gal Oya.

Day 7Gal Oya

Awaken to a different world! Before or after breakfast you will be able to chose between a boat or jeep safari to observe various animals, birds and herds of elephants bathing or drinking at the lake.

You will have the option to participate in the afternoon safari or to rest and relax at the hotel or read a book by the pool.

If you wish, a visit to a Veddha village can be arranged. Hiking, bird watching or trekking to monkey mountain or simply relax at the hotel, the decision is yours.

Overnight stay in a eco type accommodation or lodge in Gal Oya.

Day 8Gal Oya - Ella

After Breakfast leave for Ella (approximately 3 hours drive). In the afternoon visit the 9 Arch Bridge, the Little Adam’s Peak and the Ella Gap.

On the way to Ella you can see the Ravana Falls. Enjoy the verdant scenic beauty of the landscape.

Overnight stay in a hotel or a bungalow in Ella.

Day 9Ella – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast leave Ella. Take the scenic train (if available) from Ella to Nanu-Oya and be privileged to see the incredible views on tea plantations, mountains and valleys. Your driver will pick you up from Nanu Oya Train Station for a short drive to Nuwara Eliya. If you travel by car from Ella to Nuwara Eliya (approximately 2 hours drive), you will have the chance to visit Hakgala Botanical Garden, tea plantations and scenic views.

In the afternoon rest at your hotel or take a city tour of Nuwara Eliya “Little England” all at your leisure.

Day 10Nuwara Eliya – Horton plains – Kitulgala

After an early morning breakfast drive to Horton Plains National Park for a trek. The walk is 9 kms return. Discover the spectacular World’s End, the Bakers falls, Little World’s End.

During the walk you will be able to admire endemic birds, sambar deer, reptiles and many other types of wild life. The diversity of the flora and fauna in Horton’s Plains is impressive.

Post trek proceed to Kitulgala (between 2.30 to 3hours drive). En route observe prime tea plantations, waterfalls. Stop over at a beautiful location to indulge in a pot of fresh fragrant Sri Lankan tea, all with a waterfall view.

If you arrive in Kitulgala early afternoon you can commit yourself on a short bird watching trek, water rafting session or simply relax at the hotel.

Overnight stay in eco type accommodation or hotel in Kitulgala.

Day 11Kitulgala - Bentota

After breakfast leave for Bentota (2.30 to 3 hours drive) or delay your departure to participate in repeat activities, such as confidence jump, water rafting, canoeing, abseiling, zip lining and other activities that are available.

When reachingBentota you can decide between relaxing on the beach or by the pool, having a massage or engaging in some more water activities.

Overnight in Bentota.

Day 12Bentota

You are free to spend the day at your leisure. Catch some sun on the beach, relax by the pool, visit the area or hire a boat for a deep sea fishing experience.

Day 13Bentota - Colombo - Negombo

After breakfast depart to Colombo. The capital of Sri Lanka is waiting for you to discover Pettah market, Independence Square, Gangaramaya Temple and many other sites. The shopping malls are equally anticipating your visit.

Leave for Negombo, on check in indulge yourself with a sumptuous massage by an authentic Doctor in Ayurveda.

A goodbye dinner will be arranged for you. Drinks not included

Day 14Negombo – Colombo Airport

If your departure time allows, why not take a boat ride on the Hamilton Canal or enjoy the beach.

Then leave Negombo to reach the airport 3.5 hrs before your departure time. Drop you off at the airport and end of the tour.

What to Expect

Dambulla, Mihintale – Wear conservative attire and cover shoulders and legs. Remove shoes & slippers. Socks can be worn.

Dambulla/Mihintale – Before taking any pictures ask permission.

Dambulla/Mihintale/Sigiriya/Ritigala/Pidurangala – Beware of uneven stairs. Some climbs can be perceived as challenging.

Gal Oya Safari – Mosquito and leach repellent recommended. Always follow the tracker or the guides’ instructions. Treks or Safaris are only undertaken with a tracker.

Buying entry tickets – (Sigiriya/Mihintale/Anuradhapura/Polonnaruwa/Dambulla/Pidurangala) – Buy tickets from official kiosk/counter before commencing your visit.

Hill Country – (Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains, Ella) – Temperatures can get chilly.

Safety in any water activities or sea – (Kitulgala, Bentota, Negombo). Always follow the service providers instructions and any red flag notification on the beach.

Bentota, Negombo – Vibrant beach towns with lot of restaurants & cafes.

Site guides – All Venues : Test their language skills and knowledge. Fix the price before you proceed. Cost should be circa USD 10.00 or 15.00.

Potable Water – Always carry a bottle of water.

Heat – Keep with you a cap or a hat/scarf.
