Hatton was founded by the British in the hill country of Sri Lanka. The name Hatton derives from a village in Aberdeen shire in Scotland. It’s based at an elevation of approximately 1,270 Meters above sea level and situated in the cooler climate of Nuwara Eliya district. The area originally served in the cultivation of Coffee, thereafter the Tea industry.
Hatton boasts of many renovated ex-tea planter bungalows that have now been lovingly restored into luxurious boutique villas. The area is abound by lush tea gardens that you can visit, enjoy picnics, mountain biking adventures and vistas of beautiful landscapes and its reservoir where you can lazily take a boat ride. Hiking and walking in the Bogawantalawa valley is sublime with natural high slopes of conifers and dense green woodland. Hatton is a gorgeous place to visit.
