Ella

Ella is a beautiful hill country village about a 1000 metres above sea level. It’s climate is cool and vegetation and scenery is lush green. Ella is surrounded by higher mountains, in its valleys you will find paddy fields and vegetables being cultivated and tea plantations on its higher slopes.

Ella is a deserved escape from the sun drenched beaches of Sri Lanka, rest and relax and when you feel up to it, take a hike in the many trekking routes along its hills and valleys.

Ella town clings to the Ella ridge, from where on a clear day you can view the south coast and in the evening the pulsating lights of the Hambantota light house. On a cloudy day you can see great swaths of mist clinging magically to the hillsides. Either way, it’s a breathtaking experience!
