At the end of 10km walk from ‘Hulan Ella’ we arrive at the ‘jewel in the crown’ – the mind-blowing, breathtakingly beautiful ‘ Duwili Ella Falls ‘. This waterfall is also known as the ‘Walawa Ganga Falls’. It plunges a majestic 80 ft from a level rocky ground into a large deep pool at the base. The plummeting of the water creates a vapor of spray, resembling a haze of dust (thus the name ‘Duwili Ella’ – in Sinhalese, ‘Duwili’ means ‘dust’ and ‘Ella’ is ‘waterfall’).
