Brief Snapshot

Initially go play with some elephants in the renowned Pinnawala elephant orphanage and learn about these wonderful mammals. Proceed for some trekking, some cultural experience in the temple of tooth, visit the beautifully landscaped gardens of Peradeniya and visit a local school to meet its pupils. Then leave to the beautiful scenic tea plantations in the hill country and whilst trekking visit some British Colonial places of interest. Thereafter, head down south for exciting wildlife adventures and some fun on southern shores.

Itinerary
Colombo Airport - Pinnawala - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya – Haputale - Uda Walawa - Tangalle - Bentota - Colombo Airport

Day 1Arrive into "Sri Lanka"

Upon your arrival into Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) the group will be received and welcomed by our company representative.

Subject to your arrival time, dinner and then overnight stay in Negombo. The adventure will commence the following morning!

Day 2Negombo - Pinnawala - Kandy

After breakfast leave to Pinnawala.

Post lunch help the team at the Elephant orphanage in various activities, such as cleaning enclosures, feeding baby elephants, bathing baby elephants and subject to time attend an educational program on Elephants.

Upon completion drive to Kandy for dinner and an stay overnight.

Day 3Kandy

The next morning arrive at the Kandy Udawatta Kele trail head by 6.30am. Breakfast pack will be provided. After a brief description of the trail/forest reserve the group will commence with the bird watching and nature trek by 6.45am. There are rest stops every 1km. The walk will be completed by 11.30am.

Then to Victoria Golf Club for lunch. After lunch visit the Victoria dam and educational center.

Return to Kandy and drop into the Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 4Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Depart the hotel after breakfast at 8.00a.m to visit the Peradeniya Royal Botanical gardens. Spend 2 hours at these delightful gardens.

Then proceed to a school close by where the students will help to either cook or serve lunch to a number of school children and if so desired, share lunch with them. Once completed at 12.00 noon drive directly to Nuwara Eliya (75 kms), travel time will be approximately 3.00 hrs. On the way the scenic views of tea plantations and a few waterfalls are breathtaking. It is planned for the students to visit a tea processing factory en-route.

Check into a hotel in Nuwara Eliya for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5Nuwara Eliya - Haputale

After breakfast leave for Horton Plains Nature Reserve, (40 kms) from Nuwara Eliya. Commence your trek into Horton Plains to Worlds End (time of expedition 3-4hrs).

On completion drive to Haputale for a late lunch.

Dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel in Haputale.

Day 6Haputale

Today, awaken to a different world! After breakfast, you can participate in a interesting and scenic day trek to Lipton’s seat where you will observe sublime views of Sir Thomas Lipton’s tea plantation, or to Banbarakanda and Lanka Ella waterfalls, or choose from many other available trails. Alternatively visit by coach Adisham Bungalow, the choice is up to the group.

Alternatively, relax at your hotel, just enjoying the enchanting verdant views.

Overnight stay in Haputale.

Day 7Haputale - Uda Walawa

After breakfast drive to Uda Walawa (estimated driving time 2 hours).

After lunch participate in an afternoon (2.30pm) Safari, observe elephants and other animals and birds in their natural habitat.

Dinner and an overnight stay in a camp site in Uda Walawa.

Day 8Uda Walawa - Rekawa

After breakfast, leave the camp site at your leisure and head to Rekawa (80kms/1.3hrs).

On arrival check into your spectacular camp site, this is camping in style and the afternoon is yours.

Relax till the evening then enjoy a hearty BBQ dinner in a magical setting surrounded by flame torches and a camp fire and listen to the call of the wild!

The spectacular event of the evening will start around 8pm where you will walk to the beach and ready yourself to see wild turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs, this may continue until 1am. It’s an exciting night time adventure on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. The best season is January to April, although, nesting is throughout the year.

Overnight in a safari camp site Rekawa.

Day 9Rekawa

After breakfast visit Mulgirigala Rock Temple (circa 1 hour drive), spend the morning there and discover a beautiful Buddhist temple with vibrant frescoes. The climb to the top will be good for your calf muscles.

After lunch, rest and relax and then to one of the finest beaches in Sri Lanka, namely Tangalle beach, to spend the afternoon surfing, swimming and other water activities

Day 10Rekawa - Bentota

After breakfast leave to Bentota (approximately 1.30 hour drive). En-route visit Rumassala mountain, then to Galle (UNESCO World Heritage site). Enjoy lunch in Galle and proceed to Bentota.

Dinner and overnight stay in Bentota.

Day 11Bentota

Start you day with a hearty breakfast. Relax by the beach / pool or participate in lots of fun activities such as boat ride, fishing, snorkeling, diving, kite surfing, jet ski.

Lunch and more fun on the pristine endless beach of Bentota.

Dinner and an overnight stay in Bentota.

Day 12Into the wild, wild forests

A definite big breakfast is needed, then to the Sinharaja Rain Forest (UNESCO World Heritage site) for the day.

Lunch in Sinharaja and return back to Bentota, exhausted!

Over night stay in Bentota where a sumptuous goodbye dinner will be arranged.

Day 13Good bye Sri Lanka - Come back again soon!

Depending on your departure flight time leave Bentota to reach the airport 3.00hrs before your departure. Drop you off at the airport and end of the tour.

What to Expect

All religious sites – Wear conservative attire and cover shoulders and legs. Remove shoes & slippers. Socks can be worn.

Mulgirigala – Beware of uneven stairs. Some climbs can be perceived as challenging.

Buying entry tickets – (Kandy/Mulgirigala) – Buy tickets from official kiosk/counter before commencing your visit.

Hill Country – (Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains, Hatton) – Temperatures can get chilly.

Safari – Mosquito and leech repellent recommended. Always follow the tracker or the guides’ instructions. Treks or Safaris are only undertaken with a tracker.

Safety in any water activities or sea – (Rekawa, Bentota, Negombo). Always follow the service providers instructions and any red flag notification on the beach.

Bentota, Negombo – Vibrant beach towns with lot of restaurants & cafes.

Site guides – All Venues : Test their language skills and knowledge. Fix the price before you proceed. Cost should be circa USD 10.00 or 15.00.

Potable Water – Always carry a bottle of water.

Heat – Keep with you a cap or a hat/scarf.
