Itinerary
Negombo - Kurunegala - Kandy - Hatton - Colombo

Day 1Colombo Airport – Negombo

Our representative will be eagerly awaiting you on your arrival into Colombo International airport.

Meet at arrivals hall.

To overcome your long flight, you will rest at a comfortable hotel in Negombo. Subject to your check in time, enjoy an Ayurveda massage to help sooth away any jetlag.

Overnight stay at a hotel in Negombo.

Day 2Negombo – Kurunegala

Leave hotel in Negombo at your leisure, drive to a Buddhist Monastery in Kurunegala where you will be dropped off to immerse yourself in serenity.

Upon reaching the Monastery you can pay a courtesy visit to the venerable head monk and the other monks at the Monastery and prepare yourself for the program that you will undertake from the following morning for the next 9 days.

Day 3 to Day 11Monastery in Kurunegala

Learn Buddhism and daily rituals, meditation, Pali language, Yoga and participate in the Vihara daily life and community activities.

Your 9 day program includes a simple approach and brief Introduction in Buddhism, Buddhist Meditation, Dhamma Talk, Temple visit, Buddhist culture, offering flowers to the Buddha and learning how to pay homage to Lord Buddha, Introduction of Basic techniques and practical values of YOGA to obtain mental and physical relaxation, Pāli Reading – (basic methods), Reading a Suttā with its meaning (Buddhist scriptures that contain the teachings of the fully enlightened Buddha), know how to perform Buddha puja, a visit to the Monastery forest and caves including meditation cells and a Meditation Monastery. Introduction of selected books to learn Buddhism.

Day 12Monestery in Kurunegala – Knuckles Range Mountain

After breakfast leave the monastery at your leisure, drive to a Knuckles Range retreat (2.30 hours drive).

Day 13Knuckles Range Mountain

Peace, silence, tranquillity, nature and beautiful views are the main ingredients for you stay. Yoga, Ayurveda treatment, trekking through tea plantations are part of the program every day.

Day 14Knuckles Range Mountain

Today if you so wish you can meet a European Buddhist monk who having had a prominent career has since chosen to abandon the frenetic lifestyle that he led to now live in semi isolated atop a mountain.

The walk through tea plantations to reach his habitat of serenity reveals fabulous scenic views. Spend few hours with him talking about Buddhism, philosophy, quantum physics and other very interesting topics.

Overnight in Knuckles Range.

Day 15Knuckles Range - Kandy

Rest and relax or indulge in an Ayuveda massage during the day.

If you wish to experience the Sri Dalada Maligawa/Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (UNESCO World Heritage Site) Puja ceremony at 6pm, you depart for the Temple by late afternoon. This Puja is definitely not to be missed.

Overnight in Kandy.

Day 16Kandy – Adam’s Peak

If you wish to trek up to Adam’s Peak, a 2 hours drive from Kandy will get you there. Adam’s Peak, is a famed pilgrimage site where its believed Lord Buddha’s footprint is marked.

Alternatively, leave Kandy at your leisure and be driven to Negombo (approximately 3.00 hours) where you will spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach or by the pool. As a choice, treat yourself to an Ayurveda massage

A goodbye dinner will be arranged for you. Drinks not included.

Overnight in Negombo.

Day 17Negombo – Colombo Airport

Then leave Negombo to reach the airport 3.5 hrs before your departure time. Drop you off at the airport and end of the tour.

What to Expect

Kurunegala Monastery, Temple of the Tooth, Kandy – Wear conservative attire and cover shoulders and legs. Remove shoes & slippers. Socks can be worn.

Kurunegala – Before taking any pictures ask permission.

Site guides – Kandy Temple of the Tooth – Test their language skills and knowledge. Fix the price before you proceed. Cost should be circa USD 10.00 or 15.00.

Buying entry tickets at Temple of the Tooth – Buy tickets from official kiosk/counter before your climb.

Safety in any water activities or sea – (Negombo). Always watch out for red flag on the beach or follow the service providers instructions.

Negombo – Vibrant beach town with lot of restaurants & cafes.

Knuckle Range (trekking) – Mosquito and leach repellent recommended. Always follow the tracker or the guides’ instructions. Treks are only undertaken with a tracker.

Potable Water – Always carry a bottle of water.

Heat – Keep with you a cap or a hat/scarf.

  2. Transportation using air-conditioned vehicles with driver.

  4. Replacement of vehicle in case of breakdown or emergency.
  5. Accommodation as specified in our quotation.

  7. 1ltr complementary bottle of water per person per day.

  1. Air ticket expenses from your country to Sri Lanka and return journey
  2. Visa, travel and medical insurance
  3. Early check in and late check outs
  4. Other meals & beverages, unless otherwise specified
  5. Extra items consumed in your hotel, bar, mini bar and all facilities utilized in the hotels. These are to be settled prior to check out at hotel
  6. Tips and expenses of personal nature
  7. Photography and video filming charges at sites
  8. All mentioned activities, any entrance fees. We are happy to provide these costs with our quotation.
