Brief Snapshot

Your journey will take you to Safaris and a stay in a secluded and exciting jungle retreat, then to a number of astonishing UNESCO World Heritage sites and ancient cities. Then to a sublime sandy beach to catch some rays and where the sea is like a mill pond. Thereafter, visit one of the finest landscaped botanical gardens in Asia and the renowned, venerated temple of the tooth in Kandy or a trek in a close by forest.

Itinerary
Negombo – Sigiriya – Dambulla – Pasikudah - Gal Oya – Kandy - Negombo

Day 1Airport to Negombo

Our representative will be eagerly awaiting you on your arrival into Colombo International airport.

Meet at arrivals hall.

To overcome your long flight, you will rest at a comfortable hotel in Negombo. Subject to your check in time, enjoy an Ayurveda massage to help sooth away any jetlag.

Day 2Negombo - Dambulla - Sigiriya

After breakfast leave Negombo for Dambulla Cave Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

In the afternoon climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site), admire this ancient engineering marvel created by King Kassyapa (477-495CE), who built this citadel, learn about the history behind the fortress and the gardens of Sigiriya.

As an alternative, you can climb the less visited, but beautiful Pidurangala Rock Temple, the refuge of Buddhist monks living in Sigiriya before the construction of the Fortress. Discover the Buddhist relics, enjoy the views and the sunset.

Day 3Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa

An early start with a packed breakfast and participate in a safari in one of the close by National Parks.

Back to the hotel for a restful afternoon by the pool.

Day 4Sigiriya - Pasikudah

After breakfast drive to Polonnaruwa historical site (1 hour drive)(UNESCO World Heritage Site). Discover the magnificent archeological ruins, the 3 statues of Lord Buddha, the museum, the lake, the impressive Parakrama Pamudraya amongst other historical treasures.

After the visit proceed to Pasikudah, its pristine golden sand beaches, sublime warm turquoise sea and renownd resorts await you. There are so many fun water activities (from May to October) to choose from. Or If you prefer just relax on the beach or by the pool at your resort.

Day 5Pasikudah

You might want to treat yourself with a SPA treatment or a massage.

Another day in heavenly Pasikudah. Escape completely, discover a different world!

Day 6Pasikudah to Gal Oya

After breakfast, drive to Gal Oya (approximately 4 hours drive). If you are early enough you can enjoy a boat or jeep safari in the afternoon to observe wild elephants, other animals in their natural habitat drinking and bathing in the lake.

If you prefer, you can do trekking and bird watching or visit a close by Veddah Village.

Or relax at the lodge and enjoy the silence and peace of the wilderness. Every day is different!

Day 7Gal Oya

Organise your day at your convenience, have a lazy late breakfast? May be an early morning safari or some activities? Or stay by the pool, read a book, enjoy the views on the lake. Enjoy the freedom and tranquility.

Day 8Gal Oya – Kandy

After Breakfast, leave Gal Oya to Kandy (approximately 4.0 hours drive). On the way you can visit the Mahiyanganaya Buddhist Temple and its huge stupa.

The drive will go through the 18 bends picturesque road with beautiful scenic views of the surrounding area.

In Kandy, visit the Dalada Maligawa Temple “Temple of the Tooth” (UNESCO World Heritage Site). At 6pm observe the Puja ceremony and the devotion of the worshipers, the trumpets and drums at their best.

Day 9Kandy - Negombo

After breakfast you can visit the Peradiniya Royal Botanical Gardens, trek in the Uda Wattakale forest reserve, or walk with a guide through a village from the Gadaladeniya Temple to the famous wood carved Embekke Devalayia (6kms walk).

When arriving in Negombo rest at your hotel for the afternoon or enjoy an Ayuverda massage.

A goodbye dinner will be arranged for you. Drinks not included.

Day 10Negombo - Airport

Depending on the departure time of your flight, you can enjoy an ayurveda massage with a Doctor in Ayurveda or take a cooking class to impress your friends with a Sri Lankan curry back home.

Depart Negombo to reach the airport 3.5 hrs before your departure time. Drop you off at the airport and end of the tour.

What to Expect

Temple of the Tooth, Kandy/ Dambulla Cave Temple – Wear conservative attire and cover shoulders and legs. Remove shoes & slippers. Socks can be worn.

Site guides – Dambulla/Sigiriya/Polonnaruwa/Kandy Temple of the Tooth – Test their language skills and knowledge. Fix the price before you proceed. Cost should be circa USD 10.00 or 15.00.

Buying entry tickets at (Sigiriya/Pidurangala/Dambulla/Temple of the Tooth/Peradeniya) – Buy tickets from official kiosk/counter before your climb.

Dambulla – Before taking any pictures ask permission.

Dambulla/Pidurangala/Sigiriya – Beware of uneven stairs. Some climbs can be perceived as challenging.

Safety in any water activities or sea – (Pasikudah, Negombo). Always watch out for red flag on the beach or follow the service providers instructions.

Gal Oya Safari – Mosquito and leach repellent recommended. Always follow the tracker or the guides’ instructions. Treks or Safaris are only undertaken with a tracker.

Negombo – Vibrant beach town with lot of restaurants & cafes.

Potable Water – Always carry a bottle of water.

Heat – Keep with you a cap or a hat/scarf.
