Brief Snapshot

This adventure will take you to a number of UNESCO World Heritage archaeological sites, an ancient capital and forest, including the majestic Sigiriya rock citadel, the special Dambulla cave temple and the sacred tooth temple in Kandy, the impressive botanical gardens in Peradeniya. Then to another world of the hill country, its tea plantations, wonderful scenic views of Hatton and off road treks. Then to some adrenaline filled rapid river water sports.

Itinerary
Colombo Airport - Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya - Kitulgala - Colombo Airport

Day 1Colombo Airport – Sigiriya

Our representative will be awaiting you on your arrival into Colombo International airport.

Meet at arrivals hall.

Drive directly to Sigiriya.

Overnight stay Sigiriya.

Day 2Sigiriya

Breakfast and time is yours.

In the afternoon visit “Lion Rock” Sigiriya Rock Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site) or Pidurangala Temple. The possibility of doing some bird watching or trekking is available.

Early in the morning and during the season you can experience an exciting ballooning tour to admire the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress from the sky.

Overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 3Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa

After breakfast drive to Polonnaruwa (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Spend few hours walking amid the canopy of trees, admiring antiquity of various sites or enjoy a bicycle ride to visit these sites. If you so wish, then proceed to visit Medirigiriya archaeological site (1 hour drive for Polonnaruwa). As an alternative, if you wish to indulge in a less active day, a short drive from your hotel, you have the Ritigala Forest Reserve and archeological site. The site is also a haven for bird watchers. On the way back to your hotel, enjoy a typical village lunch, followed by an afternoon siesta.

Overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 4Sigiriya to Kandy

If you are an early riser ready yourself for a 6.30a.m. morning safari to one of the National Parks to admire elephants and other animals, birds in their natural habitat.

After the safari leave for Kandy. On the way visit the spectacular Dambulla Cave Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Before 6pm visit the Sri Dalada Maligawa/Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (UNESCO World Heritage Site) to admire the fantastic daily Puja ceremony, where you will feel an overwhelming spiritual experience amid the throngs of people, the beating of drums and blowing of trumpets, whilst the doors to the chamber are opened to reveal the casket that holds the sacred tooth.

Check into hotel for overnight in Kandy.

Day 5Kandy

After breakfast visit Peradiniya Royal Botanical Gardens.

If you still feel energetic, you have the option to visit a combo of nearby temples : Embekke Devalayia Temple. A mere kilometer away stands the commanding Lankatilaka Vihara (monastery) Lastly, arrive at the Gadaladeniya Temple. Between both the above – mentioned temples there is a pleasant tree lined walk linking both temples.

Or relax in your hotel or walk around the lake.

Overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 6Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya. On the way there is the possibility of trekking to Ramboda Falls (45 minutes climb), visit Hanuman Temple, tea plantations and a tea factory.

On arrival into Nuwara Eliya, relax in your hotel or do the city tour of “Little England” at your leisure or visit the close by bird sanctuary of Galway.

Overnight in the refreshing Climate of Nuwara Eliya.

Day 7Horton Plains - Kitulgala

After breakfast, drive to Horton Plains. Walk, enjoying beautiful scenic views to World’s End, Little World’s End, Bakers Falls. Observe birds and wild life in this enchanting place.

Thereafter drive to Kitulgala. Depending on the time you arrive at Kitulgala, the possibility of further exhilarating activities are available, such as water rafting, canoeing, sliding, zip lining, cave visit, bird watching, trekking, confidence jump, village tour.

Overnight in Kitulgala.

Day 8Kitulgala to Airport

Depart Kitulgala to reach the airport 3.3 hrs before your departure time. Drop you off at the airport and end of the tour.

What to Expect

Religious Sites – Wear conservative attire and cover shoulders and legs. Remove shoes & slippers. Socks can be worn.

Stairs – Un-even rock carved paths, steps and walkways in some climbs may be challenging and slippery. Be particularly careful in wet conditions.

Safaris – Bring your own mosquito and leech repellent. Always follow the tracker or the guides’ instructions. Visits are only undertaken with a tracker.

Safety In Water Activities – Always follow the service providers’ instructions and any red flag notification on the beach.

Hill country – It’s recommended that you bring along warm clothes.

  1. Air ticket expenses from your country to Sri Lanka and return journey
  2. Visa, travel and medical insurance
  3. Early check in and late check outs
  4. Other meals & beverages, unless otherwise specified
  5. Extra items consumed in your hotel, bar, mini bar and all facilities utilized in the hotels. These are to be settled prior to check out at hotel
  6. Tips and expenses of personal nature
  7. Photography and video filming charges at sites
  8. All mentioned activities, any entrance fees. We are happy to provide these costs with our quotation.
  9. Safari Jeep and boat charges
