Embekke Devalayia Temple

Embekke Devalayia Temple was built to honour King Mahasena who ruled Sri Lanka from 277 to 304 AD by King Vikramabahu III. The Devalaya includes three main segments; the Sanctum of Garagha, Dancing Hall and the Drummers Hall, all beautifully decorated with splendid wood sculptures, carvings of dragons and fierce battles between lions and elephants.
